Loren D. Brown, D.O.

Dr. Brown is a native of Des Moines where he was born February 21, 1949.

 


 

Education Dr. Brown completed his undergraduate work was at the University of Iowa in 1971. He attended medical school at the College of Osteopathy Medical and Surgery (now the Des Moines University) where he graduated in 1974. He served an Internship at Des Moines General Osteopathic Hospital, and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Chicago Osteopathic Hospital in 1976. Dr. Brown's fellowship in Medical Oncology was completed at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio in 1979.


Certification: Dr. Brown is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.


Practice Dr. Brown first entered solo private practice by forming Central Iowa Oncology and Hematology Associates in 1979. In 2000, he merged his group with Medical Oncology in Hematology Associates.


Publications Dr. Brown has published five articles as an investigator for the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, which has been the cancer research outreach program of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer center since 1979. Most of his publications deal with brain tumors, gynecological malignancies, and pain management.


Hobbies and Interests Dr. Brown’s major interests are his children and grandchildren, though he enjoys sailing in the Caribbean and enjoying tropical fish.
