Thomas R. Buroker, D.O., FACP
Dr. Buroker is a native of Wilton Junction, Iowa where he was born on November 21, 1941.

Education Dr. Buroker completed his undergraduate work at The University of Iowa where he graduated in 1964. He went on to graduate from the College of Osteopathy Medical and Surgery (now the Des Moines University) in 1968. Dr. Buroker completed a residency at the Grace Hospital in Detroit in 1970. He completed a fellowship in Medical Oncology in 1974 at Wayne State University Medical School in Detroit. |

Practice Dr. Buroker became a faculty member in the Medical Oncology at Wayne State University in 1974. In 1978 he left academic medical practice and moved with his wife to her hometown: Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Buroker and Dr. Shreck founded Medical Oncology and Hematology Associates in May of 1981. |

Publications Dr. Buroker has published 39 articles and abstracts as a faculty member at Wayne State University and as an investigator for the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, which, has been the cancer research outreach program of the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer center since 1979. Most of his publications are in colon and rectal cancers. |

Hobbies and InterestsDr. Tom can be found in Iowa on most Saturday afternoons when the Hawkeye's are playing football in Kinnick Stadium. He and his wife live in Des Moines. Their son is pursuing a career in Internal Medicine. Their daughter is pursuing a career in Pediatric Psychiatry. |
